But it&#8217;s how\u00a0these trees were planted that assured\u00a0they successfully aided the mature appeal of this\u00a0suburb.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure that these new trees reached maturity so they could provide the numerous <a href=\"https:\/\/greenblue.com\/resources\/resource-centre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">benefits that trees offer urban areas<\/a>, the City of Burlington specified the GreenBlue ArborSystem to provide the needed elements required for mature tree growth.\u00a0 This included <a href=\"\/gb?p=35057\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">uncompacted soil volume provided by StrataCells<\/a>, adequate irrigation\/aeration through the use of RootRain, root management with ReRoot to keep the roots away from paved areas and into the provided rooting zone, and tree grates and guards to protect the trees in their establishment years.<\/p>\n<p>Each tree was planted in a 16\u00bd foot\u00a0long x 6\u00bd foot\u00a0wide x 30\u201d deep (5m x 2m x 750mm) tree pit using StrataCells to create a load-bearing skeletal system that was filled with uncompacted soil to promote healthy tree establishment.\u00a0 <a href=\"\/gb?p=35079\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ReRoot<\/a> was used to wrap the root balls to keep initial root growth away from the paved surface and down into the StrataCell soil volume below. <a href=\"\/gb?p=35099\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RootRain Precinct allows these trees to receive plentiful irrigation and aeration<\/a> deep into the rooting zone, which is so critical for trees to establish.<\/p>\n<p>The ArborSystem installation took a team of two from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oakridgelandscape.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oakridge Landscape Contractors<\/a> approximately one hour per tree to complete, and that included planting the tree itself. \u00a0The simplicity of\u00a0ArborSystem\u00a0is key to it&#8217;s success in the market. \u00a0Landscape architects and related\u00a0specifiers love the system because of how easy it is to\u00a0design and incorporate into existing plans, including the provision of professionally drawn CAD details to suit many planting applications. \u00a0While contractors love it due to ArborSystem&#8217;s\u00a0ease of installation and reduced labour times.<\/p>\n<p>To finish the installation, <a href=\"\/gb?p=35089\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adur tree grates<\/a> were fitted to keep compaction off the root ball area, while <a href=\"\/na?product_cat=tree-guards-tree-surrounds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wyandotte tree guards<\/a> were installed to protect the tree in its initial years of establishment.\u00a0 After the first 3 years of growth, the tree guards were removed to provide the final design scheme that the street is today.\u00a0 Now, after 6 years, the trees are healthy and continually maturing thanks to ArborSystem!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the Greater Toronto Area, Burlington Ontario has thousands of commuters travelling to and from\u00a0the city every day.\u00a0 Walkers Line is a\u00a0key north-south road that runs through Highway 407,\u00a0the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way), and Lakeshore Road \u2013 all major routes\u00a0that head\u00a0into Toronto.
