Lansingerland-Zoetermeer Railway Station

Lansingerland-Zoetermeer Railway Station

Completed in the last quarter of 2018, Zoetermeer and Lansingerland is now home to one of the most unique stations in the region.

Completed in the last quarter of 2018, Zoetermeer and Lansingerland is now home to one of the most unique stations in the region. Situated over the A12 viaduct, the station acts as a transport hub, connecting subway, bus, car, and bicycle routes, with an anticipated future footfall of more than 10,000 commuters a day.

Key to the stations unique and sustainable design is a 40 meter wide by 190-meter long viaduct or ‘green corridor’ that runs parallel to the A12 motorway. Designed by Team V Architecture, the stations concrete and wooden design compliments it’s green credentials, further enhanced by the surrounding green roof and podium tree planting.

In total, 27 tree pits were installed along the viaduct and surrounding building using GreenBlue Urban’s RootSpace 400, ideal for podium planting due to it’s shortened height, complete with irrigation and underground guying to ensure that the trees planted reach maturity – helping to realise the architect and clients vision of a ‘future proof’ station.
