Our 30-year celebrations came to a close with our final event held at London’s most technologically advanced venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which took place on the 8th of September, alongside industry colleagues and friends.
The GreenBlue team welcomed guests with an extraordinary pitch view, with the famous Tottenham emblem of a gold cockerel standing tall above. Inside a spacious 3rd floor room with relaxed style seating surrounded by screens for presentations and plenty of staff on hand to support our every need.
To open the event we heard from our CEO; Dean Bowie, who explained why the company was founded, our mission, long-term vision, values and further aspirations.
We were then incredibly lucky to host a wealth of interesting speakers;
Brian Hawtin, Barratt Developments discussed the topic of “Putting Green at the heart of every development”. Presenting different schemes that have been an exemplar in their designs such as Kingsbrook, Aylesbury and Henham Hall Bristol. Describing the challenges to successful delivery and how to overcome these hurdles. Brian Hawtin finished his talk by promoting the Barratt Landscape Handbook which is due to be released this month.
We also heard from top landscape enthusiast Martin Kelly, The Trees and Design Action Group Founder whose talk was titled “The Past, Present and Future”
Jim Smith a National Urban Forestry Advisor, took us on a journey of ‘Trees, look how far we’ve come!’ and Sue Morgan, CEO of the Landscape Institute spoke on the importance and how to ’Improve EDI in the Built Environment.
I would like to congratulate GreenBlue Urban on such a successful event
Martin Kelly, TDAG Founder
What an enjoyable day it was to celebrate the company’s 30 years in operation, Yours is a business to be very proud of and I commend the whole team for the integrity and dedication you have all put into progressing in a world full of sceptics. – Nigel Thorne.
Stuart Simpson, Ashlea Landscapes took us through GreenBlue’s product range demonstrating how each soil cell innovation and adaptation has allowed maximum efficiency on his schemes in Scotland, such as Sighthill Glasgow and Union Terrace Gardens Aberdeen. Furthermore, Ian Titherington, Cardiff City Council concluded the talks with his ‘SuDS in the City’ talk, discussing advocate schemes worked in collaboration with GreenBlue, such as Greener Grangetown. Ian also promoted reasons as to why he personally enjoys working with GreenBlue, with our engineered product range, reliable service, friendly nature and responsibility to successful case studies creating harmony with nature.
The celebrations also consisted of an insightful tree pit demonstration led by our Sales team who work with contractors on a daily basis, with so many listeners gathered around to witness our Rootspace soil cells, guying systems and various root directors assembled, all whilst the venue circulated delicious bowl food for lunch. All attendees were able to network and enjoy the proceedings of the day in celebration with GreenBlue Members.
Our master of ceremonies Howard Gray rounded off the event with a champagne toast to the next 30 years and what GreenBlue Urban have achieved so far.
Those who were fortunate enough to join the London Red Bus Tour thereafter visited a number of case studies GreenBlue is proud to have supported with product solutions, including;
- Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
- Dalston Square
- Leonard Circus
- St Giles Square
- Finsbury Tower
Discovering the history and design of each as they passed. Experiencing first-hand construction constraints and providing inspiration for future projects. The bus was alive with conversations from all, the tour became a perfect opportunity to make new friends and catch up with existing industry colleagues.
As our team departed the stadium and drove South back towards home with a rainbow shining above in the distance, the sad news of the Queen’s passing was announced. The 8th of September 2022 will always remain a day of reflection for us at GreenBlue, this was the day we celebrated life achievements both personally and as a business and respectfully for the crown.
Thank you to all that attended.
