Peter Massini of Future Nature Consulting has been involved in ecology most of his life, and for twelve years headed up the Greater London Authority Green Infrastructure Policy Team. In this interview Peter helpfully explains the links between green infrastructure and biodiversity, including the Urban Greening Factor that he helped write in London, and the new Biodiversity Nett Gain legislation that is likely to come into force this year when the Environment Act gets passed by the UK Government. Understanding the differences between different elements of legislation and the symbiosis between them, Peter is one of the foremost specialists in the science of biodiversity, and discusses the routes and options available to developers, and also the challenges that still face all stakeholders.
